GreenHeart is trying to ease this situation by planting mangrove saplings and restoring damaged areas of the coast. Pollution in the Ganga and other rivers however, contribute to a high rate of waterborne illnesses, which kill an estimated 1.5 million children each year. 
This is why Green Heart is helping to clean the river by removing trash and debris from the river and educating local communities about waste management practices. As a result, GreenHeart is working towards improved water quality, reduced pollution, and enhanced recreational opportunities for local residents and visitors.
