         <description><![CDATA[why you feel it’s important; 
When students start focusing on the process versus the final product, they learn to think for themselves.  Focusing on student process over product reveals the quality of a student’s thinking and decision-making abilities, which is often not present when just judging the final product.  Process over product facilitates a student-centered approach that paves the way for students to practice 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.  When students are allowed and encouraged to fail, mistakes become opportunities for other creative avenues for students to explore.  Failure is a part of everyday life, and failure leads to more ideas.  So many students and people avoid opportunities and situations because of fear of failure, and becoming comfortable with failure through artistic process and experimentation opens up students to being okay with failing and moving on to more success later.]]></description>
