We think the paranoia was a result of multiple emotions and superstitions. Fear, ignorance, and a want for political wealth/power had a large impact on this paranoia. In addition, some citizens may have acted as though they were afflicted by witches in order to convince the rest of society that they were in danger.

We think the Salem Witch Trial hysteria was not necessary. Many people were accused of being a witch, even though, possibly they were not actually witches. Some people even pretended to be witches. According to them, they acted so well, they became intoxicated and believed/became witches. We think all the hysteria was not worth it because in the end, none of the witches were actually proven to be real. Only the people then believed in witches because of a person's different behavior or activity.

The Salem Witch Trials ended on September 22, 1692 due to a mass hanging. More than one hundred accused witches were set free. One reason as to why so many witches were set free is the fact that one of the accused was the governor's own wife. He would not let it go on any longer, so he set all of the accused (including his wife) free.
