OEL PC and ECSE PSP Collaboration by Nikole Logan

As you reflect on our collaborative interaction, please reference the following in your reflection: 1. Identify at least one take away from our collaboration? 2. How can you collaborate with ECSE staff in your centers? In your work? 3.What do you still need to know? 4. What is similar in our work? What is different?

Our collaboration can only benefit our students and families. Sharing our contact information as a directory and asking teams to reach out if would be great. A directory of their staff, their focuses and locations would be greatly appreciated. We are similar in the fact that we want the best for families and communities.
NMP

Both programs do great work and yet we feel isolated. A "touch base" information sharing at least once a year will help with reconnecting and collaborating with ECSE colleagues. A google document with all our contact information and building/ city areas responsibilities will be helpful. I want to work as a team if our collaboration will benefit our students and families.

Both programs are similar, but also different in our approaches. Collaborating with each other and fully understanding how we each provide service can benefit our families and students. Working with students in child care centers, there can be many students who are not identified or students who teachers desperately wants services for but don't qualify. By working together we can help provide support for these students.

Collectively, our work is intense, targeted and family/child focused. Those at our table talked about how we can work together to help centers retain children. Parents are losing jobs due to their children (ECSE and non-ECSE children) being kicked out of centers. Is there a way we can gain funding to provide support similar to the nurse navigation system that medical providers use? Would it be helpful to have community standards of quality of care in early childhood settings? We also talked about the quality of care in centers and that there is no financial incentive to be a PreK teacher whether the teacher has a CDA or bachelors degree. Our conversation emphasized the need to make sure ECSE is at the table as we create our Early Learning networks.
I would greatly appreciate a working document that shows who is working in which centers so we can support each other's work and work together. When centers feel that safety net, they will be more able to meet the needs and enrich the lives of children and families.
KLZ

It was good connecting with the people at my group. We spent most of the time talking about some of the happenings at my center since some of them have been to or worked with children there, both currently or previously . The ECSE team at my table would be interested in collaborating or having apart in a PD that we have for our Providers. As I'm coaching, it would be good to know what strategies or resources the ECSE teachers have provided to the providers when they go in to see students. It would help to build off of it, if it relates to the coaching topic.
