As a millenial, I'm so used to my peers wanting to connect via text, twitter, etc. and I'm tied to my phone... I find it interesting that my students would prefer face to face communication but are at the same time more attached to their technology. As digital natives, they are more likely to see technology as integrated and essential in their lives vs. how I see technology as something new most of the time, things that I want to "try," new ways to connect, etc... whereas they see it as having always been there. My students always find it interesting when I talk about old technologies and when there were no cellphones!
I think challenges are there with keeping attention, and with ensuring they are engaged with the classroom! From the description in this video, our students are more likely to connect with project based learning focused on real world problems..so how do we move away from the "old way" of teaching and innovate in ways that will connect with our students? We have to remember that they are not the same learners that we were, so the same old things may not/won't work!
I think a flipped classroom would work well with gen z students, because they could connect with the information in a way that is comfortable for them and not "boring." Finally, I think then having them respond face to face or with something like flipgrid to connect with each other and respond to the content is beneficial.

As a mother of a kindergarten it is hard to imagine that 65% of his class will have a job one day that currently does not exist. Watching this video is a reminder to always be a life long learner as an educator. Which can be a challenge for those that like to do the same mundane lessons. We need to watch for trends, look for innovative ways to make connections with our content through the use of technology. Having an environment that is blended or flipped will help Gen Z students be more engaged and make the learning relevant for their lives.
