According to details of the contract, the agreement was necessitated by the deal between Purdue University and Kaplan University in which the former purchased the latter. However, it should be noted that this contract goes against academic freedom, rights of intellectual property and other general educational standards.

Varsity premises are increasingly being used to spread hateful messages against minority groups. Such derogatory racial slurs undermine and threaten stability in the higher learning institutions and their impact is bound to be catastrophic if nothing is done. For instance, a white person attempted to give bananas to those who participating in a Black Lives Matter event; he was wearing a gorilla mask in this unfortunate East Tennessee State University. Inside many varsities, discriminating practices against the LGBT community are also on the rise. The First Amendment is thus called to action in such incidents but its provisions are faced with extreme opposition from various stakeholders in higher learning institutions (Owens, 2015).

There is no doubt that budgetary allocations for higher education has been on the decline in the recent past. Consequently, a large number of colleges and universities are increasingly relying on foundations, donations and well wishers to support their activities. Such foundations are less monitored and therefore placing varsities in the midst of corrupt practices. When authorities reduced budgetary allocation for the University of Louisville in 2015, the varsity's president allegedly loaned a whopping $ 38 million at 1% interest, an amount that was not fully accounted for ("AAUP", 2018).
