The greengrocer's

There is a greengrocer's just opposite the block of flats where I live. I seldom used to buy vegetables or fruit there, but now I'm happy to see this shop open. It reminds me that every time I need fresh food, the greengrocer will be there. I'm sorry I used to avoid buying food in these little local shops. When all this is over, I'm going to do my shopping there!

The geranium

This plant is called geranium, and it looks spectacular right now as its flowers are blooming into spring. In fact, when I came back home from holidays last August, the plant was just a branch with some dry, yellow , wrinkled leaves, and I didn't trust their survival skills. But I was wrong, fortunately! And now, in this odd confinement season, these flowers remind me of the power of life and the beauty of the little details around us.

The lonely bicycle

First of all this is not my window. I could never have this kind of view because my house is situated at the back of the main street but this situation that we are living now gives me the opportunity to contemplate this street. Lately i have been spending a lot of time in this apartment and I couldn’t notice this bicycle that have been sitting lonely on the balcony and not even once someone was using it. It is such a shame that in this times no one is using it when we have the chance to feel what this machine can offer you during this bad times. I supposed that this family or whoever owns it don’t valued enough like other families or myself could do it.
I would be very thankful to have it.

These are my views these days of confinement. At the end of the street the sea is visible, but I only see a small piece of it between the trees. At least I have good views while I work on my computer.

Inside:

The door remains closed, it seems that the clock moves its hands slowly than before. The days seem the same, there are no differences between yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Outside:

Spring breaks through, winter decisively sets aside and fills the earth with warm tones.

Flowers fill the field with colors and they also bring hope to my heart.

The lonely street

Today is Sunday morning and the avenue where i live is also lonely. Besides , it,s Cloudy and chilly and I can see the street empty and there isn't anybody and any car.
Today is the seventh day of confinement and this photograph shows that people stay at home and it is good so that the global pandemic finishes soon . I hope that people stay at home more days so that this nightmare finishes as soon as possible too.

This is the view from my terrace. Every morning when I get up I go out on the terrace and see what’s happening on the street.
Today is Sunday 22nd March 2020. Today I feel sad because it's my grandson’s 1st birthday and I can’t kiss his cheek.
When all this is over I hope to kiss him a lot of.

I took this picture on Monday at 10 am from my balcony. In this picture you can see the building opposite my flat. The shutters of this building are closed now. However they are open at night. For this reason I think people that live there do nightlife.You can see the restaurant closed; before the confinement the restaurant terrace was full of people. The street is empty and I don’t hear any noise in the morning. When I look at the street from my balcony I feel sad because in the past the street was crowded with people. I hope the problem will be solved soon.

Today is Monday 23rd March 2020 and this is my little garden.
The street is empty and quiet, I can hear only the singing of the birds.
Today is the eighth day of confinement and I would like to hug my grandchildrens soon.

A Ghost Monday

This is my picture taken today March 23, 2020 at 5 p.m. You can see the Engineering University, just behind the Forum and the Voltaic Pergola and on the horizon our beautiful Mediterranean sea.
Today is not just any day, today is a ghost day. I seem to be dreaming, but the noise of some buses, the tram and the sirens lead me to reality and aweak me from that imaginary dream. Maybe some travelers were on that tram or bus?
This picture shows our present and at the same time lets us imagine our past, full of life and light.
I miss the transfer of cars coming in and out of the Ronda Litoral and the hustle and bustle on the street of students and passers-by. Even the birds have stopped singing. Will they be confined also to their nests?
With joy and positivity we will wait for the awakening of a better day!

Hi everyone! From my window I can see a Primary school. Now it is silent, but before the children could be heard. I can also see the street where some people are walking with shopping carts or with bags and also people walking their dog. My family and I are well. I hope that all of you are well too.

From my window I see the street. As you can see there is a little supermarket opposite my house..
The streets are almost empty.

Acroos the street there is a pharmacy opened all year.
The streets are empty of people walking or going to work.

Today the weather is gray and cloudy, with a lot of cool wind.
Now I'm doing my homework while I see this view.

Today it is March 24th. It is 7 o'clock in the afternoon. I live near Marina Street and, at this time of the day, there was always a lot of noise and people. However, these days there is a lot of silence in my neighbourhood, I do not hear anything in the street. It is like a ghost town. This situation is very strange and I do not like it.

Today is 24 th of March. We went to this house 13 days ago. We stay in a quiet house on the beach with a small garden.
I have time to write/read messages, to phone family & friends, to read ...
The best of this situation is the possibility to share moments with my husband and our youngest son.
The worse is the suffering for the heath of a lot of people, even for the people who have the decision making in this complex and uncertain situation for a big part of the humanity!

At this moment life returns to the city. My neighbors go out from their houses to their balcony.
All of them says thanks to the medical professionals for their work, and we said "I'm here, one day more." It.s a nice moment in the day 😊

This is the view from my terrace. Nowadays on this street there are more people than there should be. At this moment there is no one because I took the photo at around 8 a.m.

The street is silent all day, but when the night comes every day at 8 p.m. people go out onto the terraces, and a long applause to the healthcare staff can be heard. The silence has been broken... It is exciting!

This is the view from my home. Every day at eight o’clock in the evening I go out to the balcony.
The neighbours, during five minutes, clap for the health workers. I met my neighbour for the first time. It’s an Italian women. Her name is Lucia. She was clapping outside the window too.
She is living with her husband and a daughter aged 12. She works in an office, but now she is working at home via internet.
I told her that I was living alone and she offered to help me if I need something.
She was very nice and I was happy.

Today, at night and sometimes throughout the day, it has been raining, at other moments it was windy and also there were a few moments with sun.
I took this picture at 6 o,clock pm. The sun was going down and its ligt was warm.

My flat faces the sun just one hour a day. The block of flats opposite my house is very high so it covers the sun. I don’t have any flowers because they need sun. I’ve some plant pots with green plants. The spring has not arrived yet for me.
Today I was nervous. During a week I hadn’t left my flat. So I went shopping some fruit: oranges, lemons, apples. The greenmarket is near. I put on the mask, gloves and went out.
When I came back I climbed the steps. It was a good exercise for my legs.

Today is the fourteenth day of this "state of alarm". From my window I see an empty school. The square is also empty. Only a few people are walking their pets.

Others go to the market.

How sad is my neighborhood with the stores closed!

Rainy Monday

From my balcony I don't have a nice view.I only see other buildings ,the other balconies and some terraces . But my flat is sunny, it has a lot of light and is very quiet.
Today is the sevententh day of confinement.
These days are different.
I work at home, I read, I watch television,I speack with family and friend,I set in order my home and I study English.
In moments I am quiet but I miss going for a walk in the mountain and seeing the sea.
Everything will come. I just hoppe this nightmare ends.

I'm pretty busy working, cooking and practicing with my piano.
And of course listening to the news at every moment!
I do not have much time nor much desire to study, I hope this pandemic will pass as soon as possible.

Sunday, April 5^th.

Yesterday morning I put the socks and jeans into the washer machine. I did the laundry. When it was finished I hung the trousers and socks on clothes lines.

I always hang clothes in my garden, but I can’t see anything, just a wall in front of me. The kitchen is dark. I think this is why I don’t like cooking.

But today I’m hanging clothes it in the balcony because while I’m doing this I can look at the street.

I have lost count of the days (I wanted to stop counting) that we stay at home.
But the views, at night, at day, with sun or with rain do not leave anyone indifferent, and it is a little comforting to see the lights of Montjuic in the distance and think that this is only a parenthesis in time.
Now more than ever the balconies are illuminated almost more than in Christmas times, this time without flickering and without colors but full of light, good sign, we stay at home !!

Monday, April 20th 2020.
Today is a cloudy day and it's raining now, and it has been raining during the last days. The streets are empty of people walking or going to work. There are many days of confinement since last March 15th, but I work some days because my job is considered essential, I work on the train.
In the building where I live, there was a football field and it was the first house built as the old buildings were collapsing and a new neihborhood was made.
I hope we see each other soon.

I live on a ground floor, so the front of the house looks directly out onto the street, and that’s why I see people walking down the street. People who go shopping, people who go to the subway, which is nearby, people that come from work... At the back, I have a small inner courtyard from where I can see the rear windows of my building.Light and sun come in, and I can breathe fresh air next to plants and flowers. Having the subway very near, I don’t see it, but I often hear the rattling of the cars as they pass.

I will tell what I see from my terraces at night. From my terrace facing North every night all the neighbours clap and whistle. From my terrace facing South, all the neighbours clap, whistle, sing and dance. We wave hello and we say good night when we finish. I don't know most of these people!!!

From my windows I see how spring and nature follow their way. I see trees, flowers, plants, my dogs, my cats,…. Fortunately , I can hear the silence every night and the joy of the signing birds and the house rooster first hour every morning. Yes, I’m lucky in this moment, but I really know and I can’t forget the reason why I can’t go out here and I can’t see my children, my family. I leave you a picture of this morning. My chickens. Today is Sunday and it's eight o'clock in the evening. As usual, I hear the applause and, since I live in a flat with views of inner courtyards, I go upstairs to the rooftop of my building I see the empty streets emty and the neighbours of from other buildings on theirs balconies applauding clapping. Five minutes later there is just silence , I go to the other end and see a seagull on another rooftop, It is not unusual to see a sea bird on land, I imagine that at this time we are all disillusioned. I pray that all this happens soon.

Today is not a nice day, no sun, but from my terrace I can see the sea and some ships on the horizon.
I see seagulls flying free.
Now I'm watching a boy skipping on his balcony, a lady hanging clothes and a man running around his terrace. The city seems sad, I hope everything changes soon.

From my window I can see the blosooming plants in my balcony. I like spring because flowers bloom. I also see by Agbar Tower, it is a very original building, and very beautiful at night when it is illuminated in blue and red colors, and spectacular when it changes colors to create drawings.

From my window I can see a modernist building. Its name is Ramon Serra House. Recasens restaurant is inside.
I also can see trees, plants, flowers, shops, cafés and people walking through the boulevard to the beach.
At moment, i see few people because of the confinement.

Silenced theater

I live in a Pere IV street, with little traffic and little noise. In the corner opposite is the Sala Beckett. This theater and its café, inaugurated three years ago, is in an old building of a consumer cooperative.

The people, at the end of perfomances, comment the show in the street, breaking the silence.
Now, that silence isn't broken until 8 p.m. with applause from neighbors. After, the abolute silence returns. Sometimes that silence hurts, because it remembers the real scene tha we live.

I live on Pallars street, near a boulevard square.
From my windows I can see tree leaves. I live on a third floor, the tree leaves arrive to the fourth floor of the buildings.
The street and the square are empty now, but there usually are many people walking.
I like to be at home near the windows.

The surprising green of the trees that I see from my balcony makes me feel the hunch of life that comes back wrapped in a yearned summer. The chirping of the birds is heard and the conforting feeling of hope is smelled.
From my balcony, the trees, the birds and the sun at times manage to erase the pain of grey days. Today I see the reflected sunlight in the dark windows of a huge hotel empty of life.
That reflection makes you feel that everything will reborn soon.
Children, parents, grandparents, athletes, tourists.....
Life fills us with strength to live it again.

From my window I can see the leaves of the trees. Into the trees there are birds singing all day long.
I live near the Diagonal avenue, so I also can see people runnig at evening. Since we are confined there are just few cars and the street are empty.
The most beautiful moment is at eight o'clock in the evening when my neighbour start singing popular songs with his guitar.

Humanity in a State of Proof

Hello everyone, I hope you are well.
In this confinement in which we are bound for our good, to stay at home, I’m thankful for being well, although many can’t say the same and that saddens me.
From my balcony I see the time pass a little better. If I’m looking for something positive, it is to see that the traffic has decreased because there isn’t so much noise. I see few people pass by, some of them are walking their pet, others are going with the shopping cart. Almost everyone wears their mask and gloves.
It’s a joy when at 8 o'clock we go out to homage the people who are working to help us in this bad dream and take the opportunity to greet us in the distance.
I like to see how the trees have been dressing with green leaves giving shelter to the nests of birds that with their songs indicate that it is already spring.
Peace is heard ... Within the silent and impotent sob but full of Hope.
