         <title>The Disruptive Design Method - My Understanding</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Disruptive Design method is a unique process that approaches problem-solving in a non-linear structure. Its purpose is to elicit a different type of thinking about "the ways in which we act and intervene in the world" from both creative and non-creative individuals (Paragraph 3, Disruptive Design p. 8).<br><br>The integral concepts that Disruptive Designers accept are:<br>1. Everything is interconnected<br>2. Change is constant<br>3. The future is undefined<br>4. All change should be sustainable<br>5. Challenge is part of the reward<br>6. Change is iterative (cyclic/repetitious)<br><br>These are essential attributes for successfully approaching problems using the Disruptive Design method (Paragraph 2, Disruptive Design p. 9).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I chose this image to illustrate my understanding of the Disruptive Design method because the image has concise explanations of each part. The visuals are important for demonstrating how to approach each part:<br><br>Mining requires funneling research and information in order to understand a problem's underlying facets and details (Paragraph 1, Disruptive Design p. 25).<br><br>Landscaping is accomplished by "employing systems thinking" in order to increase understanding of problem's essential elements (Paragraph 1, Disruptive Design p. 48).<br><br>Building is the part where divergent ideas are created for the purpose of "shifting the status quo," which is to say that a problem becomes less problematic. In order to become solutions, these ideas must be sustainable, effective, and feasible (Paragraph 3, Disruptive Design p. 73).</div>]]></description>

         <title>Life Cycle Thinking</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This concept is critical because one of Disruptive Design's core differences is its iterative approach to problems and the status quo. Life cycle thinking enables Designers to consider sustainable solutions, but instills the desire to never stop seeking improved, disruptive solutions. This perpetuates solution-searching and constant problem seeking. Which is why it's important to change one's paradigm about problems--to enjoy problems instead of avoiding them (Paragraph 3, Disruptive Design p. 29). <br><br>There are five primary life cycle stages through which industrial production passes: <br>1. Material extraction<br>2. Manufacturing<br>3. Packaging and transportation<br>4. Use<br>5. End of life<br>Considering each phase helps us consider the effects of our decisions in regards to consumer products and goods (Paragraph 3, Disruptive Design p. 44)</div>]]></description>

         <title>Quantitative Research</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Quantitative information is beneficial, specifically for iterative problem-solving. Capturing good data is irreplaceable for creating disruption and change, and it guides Miners in their research. According to the book, Disruptive Design mining requires extensive data for identifying nodes and parameters within which the problem exists. The reading explains several different methods for researching information during the Mining phase. Each method produces distinct information, and combined they offer comprehensive knowledge, vital for achieving successful solutions. However, quantitative data provides historical insight and future expectations. Effectively utilizing data-driven research uncovers opportunities for solutions, and helps to establish essential key performance indicators for the Landscaping and Building phases.
