In a honey bee hive, there are three different kinds of bees. First there is the queen bee. The queen is in charge of laying of the eggs and is responsible for the hive's population. Next, there are the worker bees. All worker bees are female, and they are responsible for almost everything except reproduction. For the first couple weeks of there lives, the bees focus on caring for the queen, cleaning the hive, and removing the debris from other bees. The worker bees also build honey combs, and gather nectar, pollen, and water for the hive. The last type of bees in a hive are the male drones. They fly around outside the hive and wait to mate with the queen.
