While watching the video, I saw that it's a tradition that has been passed down many generations. Additionally, it's a day to celebrate the dead and it's believed that the dead will come back to visit their families. Families would make paths made of flowers and leave food out to guide dead family members back home. I can connect because it's similar to Thanksgiving or other holidays because it's a time to celebrate with family and to spend time with family.

Me encantó el video. Vi cómo celebran a los muertos y no se separan de la tumba de sus familiares hasta la mañana. Los padres enseñaron a sus hijos a hacer pan y tamales para que mantuvieran viva la tradición. Es relevante porque, aunque ya no lo necesitan, lo siguen haciendo para recordar de dónde vienen y adónde van. Quiero saber por que ese día en especifico la familia visita a los muertos.

Vi cómo la gente en México celebra el Día de Muertos. Lo celebran con música, pintura facial, comida y ropa muy hermosa. Es para honrar a los familiares fallecidos. Conocí el Día de Muertos por la película Coco, que retrata muy bien la cultura. Lo había visto antes en Nueva York, pero nunca lo había visto con tanta intensidad como lo mostraba el video. Mi conclusión es que el Día de Muertos no es para asustar a la gente, sino para honrar a la familia y celebrar la tradición mexicana.

In the video I see a lot of flowers, food, face paint/art, candles and music. The video was very moving and interesting to watch. What I knew about DDM was that they use face paint and its a day to celebrate the dead. What I took away from this tradition is that, people put a lot of care, love, and effort into these foods and face paintings. I can't really connect with DDM because I don't celebrate it. I already knew that the day of the dead was a time to honor and celebrate deceased loved ones and that altars are made to help them visit from the dead. This ancestral tradition is an important part of Mexican culture and is a way to connect with past family members. I can connect because I would like for my deceased relatives to visit my family on special days like these. From watching the video, I saw how much the Spanish community prep and takes DDM seriously, with why they do all of this. This video made me feel more proud of my Spanish heritage and think about the family members I have who celebrate DDM. I already knew that DDM is about honoring the dead and how people prepare feasts, dances, and art for it. Some takeaways are how so many people can come together to celebrate something they believe in, which is very beautiful. I can connect because I have family who celebrate DDM and take it very seriously. This is relevant because I can relate a bit to the people who celebrate DDM.
