Overdose: A lethal amount of nicotine can be between 50-60 milligrams. This also depends on your body weight and how much you can take. Nicotine overdoses can happen but are very rare, it is usually poisoning rather than an over dose.
Poisoning: Adults have a lower risk of nicotine poisoning compared to children because they are easily affected by the effects of nicotine. Sometimes a single cigarette is enough to cause an illness. The poisoning occurs in two stages, first stimulatory effects, vomiting, dehydration, headache, etc. The last stage your body begins to slow down, low blood pressure, shallow breathing, etc.
Treatment: You will be hospitalized and will be treated depending on how much nicotine you have in your body. The most common treatment is activated charcoal to absorb the nicotine and eventually help it leave your body harmlessly.

People usually take this drug because it can give you “pleasant feelings” which makes the user want more. The more often they use the faster the body adapts to it and loses the sensation so the user increases the amount of nicotine they are using ( tobacco, cigarettes) so they can get the same sensation. Eventually the using could become dependent on the substance and not stop so to the withdrawal.
