The script calls for as much accuracy as possible when it comes to costuming and set design. 

The play calls for a set of 4x8 flats to represent the stump that the soldier sits on.

My idea is that we build a octagonal platform and drape the leftover netting over the platform and weave in foliage similar to eastern European undergrowth. I also feel that creating a tree stump from paper mache would add to the authenticity. We would like to portray the past version of the soldier as a separate actor to allow it to seem as if he was reminiscing on his life to create a more intense emotional connection. We think this may be an issue because it can be difficult to design, there are different angles and its not as easy as just making a rectangular platform.
