Feminism and feminists are a direct response to what some have perceive as the domination of the media by men in a Patriarchal Society: think Rupert Murdoch and his media empire. How many female studio executives are there or female heads of Production companies, female film directors or newspaper editors. Think of the controversial attitude to female actors whose careers are often over by the time they are forty - not sexy enough. Among many other issues, we need to consider racial stereotypes. Misrepresentation of religion, culture, race and gender is an ongoing argument waiting for a solution. The male gaze is the way in which the visual arts and literature depict the world and women from a masculine point of view, presenting women as objects of male pleasure.
