Barker CIA; Virgilio Gonzalez locksmith; James W. MCord FBI, CIA; Eugenio R. Martinez CIA; Frank A. Sturgis CIA connections)  were caught carrying photographing gear and other electronic equipment. At the Democratic Headquarters at the Watergate hotel in Washington. When the judge asked the "leader" (James MCord) where he worked he said "CIA". A Washington Post reporter named Bob Woodward said half out loud "Holy s***" and the judge flinched. The CIA is the Central Intelligence Agency. The Central Intelligence Agency is a civilian foreign intelligence service of the United States federal government, tasked with gathering, processing, and analyzing national security information from around the world. The burglars had there own council without making a phone call. They were all wearing suits. They found a address book containing the name Howard Hunt and W. House. (the White house) They found Howard Hunt and he said he had no comment. He tried many people's number, but one of them said that he was in the CIA. He was a consultant for Charles Colson, who worked closely with the President, Richard Nixon. When Bob Woodward called the White House they immediately said that he was innocent when no one asked. Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein were then on the same story. Howard Hunt was very interested in Ted Kennedy and the Librarian of the White House said that he checked out several books from the Library of Congress, but the librarian didn't remember any  Howard Hunt. Someone got to her, and she said that the conversation with Bernstein ever happened. The editor of the Wash. Post wasn't supportive of the story and it took a while to get it off the ground. Someone left Woodward a letter saying that if Woodward wanted to talk to him, to put a red flag in the pot on his balcony. If he wanted to talk to Woodward then he would leave a note on page twenty of his New York Times. And to take precautions in being followed. He arrived somewhere only to get picked up in a taxi. He then got off at a parking garage where he met a confidential source, was, for many years known only as "Deep Throat" he was later identified as former FBI agent Mark Felt. He told him to follow the money behind the break in at the Watergate Hotel. Bernstien tried to meet a man with the last name of Dardis, a Miami District Attorney, but he wouldn't meet with him. Bernstien tricked the desk to see Dardis. He tried to stall in talking to him. He showed him several checks from Mexico, and 4 of the burglars were from Cuba. He called a man named Kent Dahlberg who had turned all his money over to the committee to re-elect the president. He said he'd given his money to the head of the CREEP. One of the leaders is a man named Gordon G. Liddy. Bernstien and Woodward found out soon after this that CREEP had a "slush fund" that was 100,000's of dollars. It also funded all sorts of illegal activities.One young reporter for the Washington Post used to know someone who had worked at CREEP, and gave them a full list of the entire personnel for CREEP. They again tried many people, but no one wanted to talk. A lot of people cried or said "Leave, before they see you." It seemed someone had gotten to them. After a while, however, one lady gladly let them into her home and answered their questions. She said that their articles had barley scratched the surface. They got really excited about her willingness to talk. Unfortunately, they were looking for someone named Judith Abbot, and this person was named Caroline Abbot. A few days later Richard Nixon was re-nominated as president. Bernstien went alone to someones house. They tried hard to get him to leave, but he stalled, and did whatever he could to stay and get answers. He eventually, found out lots of good information. She gave him 3 initials of the people who were deeply involved in the cover up and crime. The initials were: LMP. The L stands for Gordon G. Liddy. The P stands for Bark Porter. The M stands for Megruder. These are the people involved in the coverup and crime. Bernstien and Woodward went to the former treasurer who had just resigned to "spend more time with his family." He said that they had been told be keep quiet by the white house.They called a man named John Mitchel. They found out that he had controlled the "slush fund." Woodward had another meeting with Mark Felt. He gave him the idea that this could go farther up. Woodward, however, still had no idea how high it could go though. Felt also told him about spies that are everywhere. He was now very paranoid that people would steal his information. He had a very important meeting with Felt. He said that the entire thing was run by H.R Haldeman, a White House Chief of staff. Felt also said that people's lives may be in danger.
