  •  Un encadrement supérieur à l'université. Les études de DUT garantissent un meilleur encadrement avec des accès à des bibliothèques, des laboratoires de langues, des espaces multimédia,… L'ambiance est un mélange entre le lycée et la fac : une assez grande liberté mêlée à une relative obligation de se présenter aux cours.
  • Un soutien pédagogique renforcé. Avec des projets personnels et des cours magistraux, les formations professionnalisantes permettent d'associer rapidement et concrètement la théorie à la pratique.
  • Une proximité avec le monde professionnel. Via les projets tuteurés, les stages et les professionnels venant dispenser des cours, les élèves de formations DUT ont presque un pied à l'école et l'autre dans le monde du travail. Ce qui donne aux cours théoriques des illustrations précises, et prépare davantage les étudiants à la réalité et aux exigences du milieu professionnel. Certains établissements proposent également des formations en alternance, surement la meilleure forme d'apprentissage.
  • Un large choix de spécialisations. Les DUT proposent 42 spécialisations. Si certains domaines n'y sont pas représentés, les possibilités restent nombreuses (gestion, arts appliqués, droit, comptabilité, communication, techniques de vente, publicité, informatique…).
