The average cost for in-vitro fertilization in the United States ranges from $12,000 to $15,000. Some things that are included in the price are fertility medications, initial tests, ultrasound and monitoring, and blood work. Most insurance plans don't cover IVF, so couples may have to look into plans with multiple cycles in case of failures.

Some women can't have babies due to significant scar tissue, history of damaged Fallopian tubes, endometriosis, unsuccessful attempts with other treatments, low or abnormal sperm, and reduced risks of twins. About 62 million or 2% of women of the "reproductive age" have made a infertility related doctor's appointment and 10% received infertility treatment during their lives. However IVF related appointments are fewer than 5% and try fertility drug, surgery,or artificial insemination.
