Using Reading Workshop to Enhance Whole-Group Learning

The demonstration of a skill is followed by a discussion of the skill. The teacher then asks individual students or pairs of students to read a passage aloud using the newly taught skill.
Then, students may read from self-selected books.
The teacher monitors their reading, and, as the students present to the others what they have read and how they responded, the teacher discusses with the students their success in using the skill.
