I teach exclusively online, but I have a weekly question for students. I will ask students to share something unique or special about their heritage and then share it in my next week’s email. In this way, I can at least have students having some information about one another, although I will have to keep the names anonymous. Many students in online learning are protective of their information, even within a class setting.
