My name is Sy Truong. I am 34 years old and was recently married to my beautiful wife over the pandemic. I began my teaching career, unknowingly at the age of 15 as a tutor, and have been in education since, so you can say that I've been an educator for 19-20 years. I am actively involved as the director of a volunteer tutoring center that helps kids in need free of charge. You will definitely hear more about that. My hobbies include working on cars, building stuff, welding stuff... I'm definitely a creative person and someone who builds things - tangible and otherwise. Hi, my name is Jaylynn. I am a fourth year biotechnology major with an undeclared minor in chemistry. In my free time, I conduct organic chemistry in Dr. Osberger's lab. My project is on BBIQ and its related structures as potential Anti-COVID-19 agents. BBIQ were identified to have antibacterial properties as well as an effective influenza vaccine adjuvant. It is relatively unexplored due to its limited bioavailability, thus, my goal is to construct subsequent BBIQ structures to test its antibacterial properties. I also love outdoor activities/exercise such as hiking, walking, and gymming. Most of these activities are done with my two lovely dogs, although Ryder (in the picture), spends more time with me and Coco, my older dog, chillax at home.

On my free time I like to do photography, hang out with friends and sleep. Most days I have work, school, and I also rescued 3 puppies in April so that takes up much of my time. They are Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and will be one on February 27. I am excited for this year and what this class has to bring.

Hi, I’m Favian (Fay-vee-an) and I’m 32. This is Year 4 at CPP. I started off as a CHME, but after a year I switched to CHM. I should have graduated over the Fall with my CHM degree, but I put off taking the last elective needed to finish CLS requirements in BIO this semester. Also, because all of the CLS requirements, I actually am claiming the double major in biotech. So I will be back next fall for a single class only taught in the fall (concepts of molecular bio), but since it is just one class, that gives me summer and fall to do internships (I’m pretty much done this semester, just three units left after 😁)

Prior to this, I was baking and making cakes professionally since the age of 18, and was an executive pastry chef from 23-29, after which I slowed down since school got really hectic (and it needed to happen eventually, schooling for my new career is more important).

Really looking forward to the career in CLS, but some goals that run along with it are: working in CLS, getting an MS in bio analytics part-time while working as a CLS, eventually taking the patent bar, and then leaving CLS after 5 years of experience for a biotech company, to work in assay development and their patents.
