He talks very loud and wants his words to be heard. He doesn’t really care about others feelings, and he thinks that he is pretty much better then anyone he is taking to. Tom Buchanan also has the appearance that he is bigger over anyone he’s comes across. For example “two shinning arrogant eyes had established dominance over his face and gave him the appearance of always leaning aggressively forward”. Most people that talk to Tom don’t like him especially when he was in college because he was so good at football and outplayed everyone. It states that “Her husband, among various physical accomplishments, had been one of the most powerful ends that ever played football at New Haven”. I’ve noticed a few colors so far thorough out, that being red, white, yellow, and gold. In general at the end of the first chapter I don’t really like Tom because he thinks he is so much better then anyone else because he is so much bigger. Valley of Ashes is a very barren land that is full of farms and is also very dirty from ash every where. “A fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens”. This implies that she is just careless person all because she is a famous golfer, and upper class so she thinks she will be able to get away with anything she wants. Social class is a very big part of the book and is represented in every setting of the book, because in East egg the people there are rich and take things for granted because they inherit the money from the parents and don’t really care about anybody but themselves. No I don’t think certain characters can pass in more then one social class, I think once your there you stay. Like how Nick is in the upper social class and gets invited to parties I don't think that’ll ever stop. One of those people being Mr Wolfsheim who is a very serious gambler. He has also been accused of fixing the 1919 World Series. Gatsby said “ he’s the man who fixed the World’s Series back in 1919”. So that begs the question of what kind of man Gatsby is by hanging out with this man who has done some horrible things. I think Gatsby is still a good man with good intentions he just hangs out with the wrong people. He is also been very nice to others by helping them with their problems when they need it. He also throws big parties for people to have fun and enjoy themselves. I think this compares badly with the image he is trying to project on others because it’s weird for people to see how nice he is, but also see him hang out with people who belong in jail. But the one in ch 5 is very important and has a very significant meaning. Gatsby explains that the green light across the dock gives him hope that one day he will be with Daisy. Gatsby says “If it wasn’t for the mist we could see your home across the bay, you always have a green light that burns all night at the end of the dock. I believe it represents Gatsby’s dream of many years to finally see Daisy again and show her his house to hopefully impress her, and make her want to be with him. The color green symbolizes Gatsby wealth since he has a lot money, a giant mansion, and a really nice yard that is better then everyone else’s. But in reality his family were farmers in the working class and weren’t wealthy at all. He went to a community college for school while working as a janitor to make money. He also lied about his name because his real name is James Gatz. His business was also a lie because he sailed around the world as an assistant doing very shady work that was most likely illegal. His actions show a lot about who he is because he came from nothing, and worked hard to become very successful. It also shows how determined he was because he didn’t really care what he was doing to make money. Daisy I think Is definitely starting to love Gatsby because she is realizing that he is a much better person then then Tom is. She also said “You know I love You” right after they kissed. As for Tom, no I think she is slowly starting to fall out of love with him because he is starting to act really bad around her. He also cheated on her which made her feel inferior to him. I also don’t think Tom loves Daisy anymore even though he says he does, because he always comes back to her but you can’t love somebody if you cheat on them with somebody else. No, I don’t think Nick loves anyone because there is no real prove that he does. The closest person that he would love is Jordan because they are always talking. They kinda look like a female face that is happy and sad at the same time. I think the floating face is trying to portray Daisy, because she goes through so many emotions throughout the book, it states “Daisy was young and her artificial world was redolent of orchids and pleasant, cheerful, snobbery, and orchestras which set the rhythm of the year, summing up the sadness and suggestiveness of life in new tunes”. I can also see many colors that are talked throughout the book. The first colors are red and white which symbolizes Toms and Daisys house in East Egg. The yellow and gold colors symbolize wealth that people have. The color blue symbolizes the emotions that go on like the relationship between Daisy and Gatsby, or between Tom and Daisy. Everyone’s main goal was to become wealthy and only two were able to do it Jay Gatsby, and Dan Cody. Gatsby did it by working hard even if that meant he had to do sketchy work that could get him in a lot of trouble if he was ever caught. He didn’t really ever care though because he just wanted to be really successful and rich. Dan Cody was able to obtain his wealth through mining very useful materials that sold for a lot. Myrtle and George were never actually able to get wealthy and ended up being pretty poor together. George worked hard in a car shop but was never really successful since no one went there. Like when Nick discovered how Gatsby was doing shady work for money with bad people. He would never go into any detail really and just made Nick super suspicious about what he was doing. Then later on he told him what he was doing which made Nick feel a lot better because he stopped keeping secrets. I had a friend that was doing the same thing to me about being super secretive about what he was doing for work. Every time I would ask him about it he would try to ignore it, or just switch to a new subject to talk about. He eventually told me what he does, which was nothing bad or illegal. He was just kinda embarrassed to tell me because he thought it was a bad job and that I would make fun of him for it. He works for a newspaper company where he drives a car and delivers people’s newspaper for them. Social class was a big part of the past, just like how it was in the book, because rich people could get what ever they want. The poorer people faced a lot more problems and had a much more difficult life. Also people did very sketchy things for people back then to make money because they had no other choice really. Just like how Gatsby did sketchy work for Mr. Wolfsheim.

The ideas in the story relate in the present because I think social class still plays a pretty big part in life. It’s not as much as in the past because being rich just pretty much meant you were the top of the social class. In the present I think it’s different because the world has changed a lot since then, and being rich isn’t the only thing that can get you high in social class. People who are poor in the present are pretty much the same as in the book because they face problems as well, and live a pretty bad life. I also think people in the present definitely do sketchy work for money because they have no other choice, or they think it’s easy.

The ideas relate to the story in the future because I think social class is still gonna play a part in life. It won’t be as big as it was in the book, but I still think it will be apart of society. In the future I don’t think poor people will struggle as bad because life will be a lot different, and won’t be struggling for money as much. People in the future I think will also try to do sketchy work for money, like in the book.

It follows them at their job working at a circus together doing acts for shows with animals specifically elephants. They end up falling in love with each other but come in to many problems because the girl is married, and the husband gets very mad when he finds out. He becomes jealous and threatens to hurt her and leave if she doesn’t stop talking to him. That is just like Tom and Daisy’s relationship because he also gets very mad when he finds out about Gatsby and wants to hurt him when he found out they were hanging out. In the movie the couple also goes through many problems and end up having a pretty hard life.
