The author uses different genres to affect the text by showing emotion and inner thoughts. When using the genre of drama it can make the reader feel happy, sad, or angry. We think the author used many of these genres to express some of the feelings about all of the high intensity parts in the book, such as the crash. We think that the author picked a subtopic of drama; comedy drama. Even though the events in the novel related to tragedy, the characters in the novel still seem to make light of the subject and keep the novel from being to dark and sad. By using the homework assignments as a journal we are able to get a look on the thoughts of the characters that weren't openly stated.
