The ICA, IRB and Sinn Fein, tried to seize key buildings in Dublin so as to attempt a coup. The rebels had to abandon their plans and surrendered on the 29 April. This resulted in 426 deaths. The Irish Republic Army is formed as a result of the re-organisation of the IV's. The war with Britain begins in January 1919, known as the Anglo- Irish War. This war ended in July 1921 and resulted in over 2000 deaths.
