It allows educators to know when to step in and help or when to step back and let the learners take ownership over their work (more autonomy).

Personalized learning - Every student learns differently, and by now technology allows educators to accommodate unique learning preferences and pace individually on a case-by-case basis. AI based tutoring, which can be highly personalized, and provide personalized assessments and tests.

Education and technology merge: technology makes it easier to query Google / YouTube /Quora and find any information.

In my current role, education is almost completely reliant on technology. I already think we are at the intersection, and we are just going to continue to run (education, learning and technology) intertwined down the same path. Our job to prepare our students for the world after high school is going to be to expand to both the physical and virtual world.

As a teacher, we are going to use education to enhance our lessons, and hopefully allow our students to more freedom of what they learn and how they show us their learning. With the different options that tech allows, such as google read and write, it is going to make learning more accessible to students then it was in the past.

Technology is indispensable in any modern learning environment. We need to be able to respond to the needs of the modern learner (millenials and beyond). Being learner-centric and innovative keeps us relevant and focused in our objective for delivering rich learning experiences rather than boring and old-fashioned courses. In my field, simulation technology is evolving unprecedentedly and all we have to do is harvest the opportunities that technology provides us to create realistic simulation scenarios.

This question has been on my mind for a couple of days now. In high school education it appears that education, learning and technology are intersecting in so many areas that finding where they intersect seemed impossible. It made me realize how much we use and rely on technology for instruction, research, offering personalized learning and creativity. So, the only way that I felt I could answer this question was to find out where education, learning and technology don’t intersect! That answer came quickly to me, human interaction. The connections, emotions, trust and relationships you build with human interaction and instruction is to me the main difference. Educators are no longer the keeper of knowledge, but the guider, mentor or supporter on a learning journey. Having said that, the articles we are reading are indicating that students feel a great sense of connection when experiencing virtual learning by using web calls and facetime chats. Is it possible that even educators will be replaced in this digital world?

I believe that we will see education continue to shift away from the Teacher as a lecturer model and more towards the teacher as a facilitator model.
With technology growing as rapidly as it is there are lots of opportunities for students to study and learn on their own time and at their own pace. Instructors will be there more to guide than to teach.
Technology accommodates different learning styles which will allow for more actual learning instead of fact regurgitation.

Expect to see a further erosion in Arts and Humanities sector across Western societies. Foreign demand for a Canadian-based education will outpace any technological innovation developed in the next five years that would have any significant impact the educational system. Educators haven't yet figured out a way to successfully integrate the use of the cell phone into an average classroom. Whatever technological/educational nexus has occurred (distance learning, classroom electronics aids, etc.) doesn't have much room to grow. Don't expect to peer into a classroom and see a robot teacher anytime soon. Do expect to be inundated with educational course offers through all your social media - the data scientists know who you are and what you like.

The unfortunate nature of the health industry is that innovation moves slowly. A perfectionist mentality tries to ensure status quo while slowly making changes. As new innovations are being discovered, official practice remains unchanged until those new innovations become normalized. This unfortunately is the same with education. For many years now Alberta Health Services has been using online learning portals for education and with as much time and effort invested into the library of courses it seems that any new innovation would have the be paradigm shifting in order to seen as greater value. We are however introducing microlearning. Mini bite of information in small digestible chunks usually in videos or small sound clips, followed by a short survey. This is especially helpful for those who may only have a few minutes between patients.

I think that technology is going to encourage the educator to become more of a facilitator to help guide the learner through a technology supported journey of learning. With better LMS systems and functionality it will make the assessments easier to use as well.I think this will allow for learners to better be able to learn in their own style and to improve the learning experience. With the ability for learning through these different modalities it will allow for the learner to determine through their preferred style leading to more success and better learning outcomes.

Education and technology are not just going to be intersecting over the next 5 years, technology is already ever present in today’s classroom. Instructors use technology when preparing and presenting their lectures. Students have to engage with technology when writing and handing in their papers. Aside from being a necessity, technology has also allowed education to explore new teaching methods. Lectures have become more interactive with the use of videos. Online education has moved from an experience of isolation into an area of social interaction and collaboration. The influence of technology will further change the face of education over the next 5 years, supporting the creation of virtual classrooms that will offer a student everything a traditional classroom could and possibly more.

It's undeniable that we have seen the education, learning and technology intersecting in recent years. Many educators have incorporated and facilitated new applications, social network, and online tools to build a more interactive and effective learning environment for students. Meanwhile, students nowadays have been used to the digital world outside of school, and often time start to challenge the traditional method of education.

However, one may not be unfamiliar with digital learning and learning via new online tools. In fact, for now such a new way of delivery is still more experimental in school sector. Particularly for younger students, parents may still reveal their concerns with such a new way of teaching and learning. Despite these challenges and some limitations, I believe in the next five years digital learning or learning in virtual teams and even at a virtual classrooms will become greatly common and even more attractive for educators to adopt and for students to pursue. More tools, platforms and resources will be developed for new generation to utilize and improve the weakness of traditional education.

The resort and the hospitality sector also looks at how education, learning and technology intersect, just as educators do?

Intersecting of education, learning and technology require effort. This takes persons that are open to change and a supportive administrative team to encourage these three elements. Each team player embraces the values it produces, and encourages a continues support to reach objectives. The best way to support this means of learning and training is for executives to support this intersecting learning style by witnessing how the change benefits the associates or students. Only then will they understand how or what type a student or associate's learning styles is, and the importance to adopt the technology that best fits and excites them to want to learn. This is looking at student centred practises which can be supported by technology.

When I taught in a northern remote First Nations Community, there was a team of us that telecommunicated with third-party specialists. These were doctors, therapists, and administrative teams from across the province. Without this technology, we would be restricted in providing a timely plan for each of our students for the personal learning plan. Without reflecting on the intersection of these three elements, it would create gaps in education and companies meeting their standards for the clients, customers, and guests.

Just my thoughts, Rachelle Williams
