The boat is not being used regularly enough, it is getting old and without good use does require more maintenance. It seems too difficult to drag out for a one day dive rather than a multiple few days. Using the boat over winter for regular boat practice is not undertaken. Boat diving and use is an essential skill for sea diving and should have an experience 'cox' that can manage the boat, divers and sea conditions; they have overall control of it for it and divers safety. Driving from a boat into open waters depth can be challenging, practicing from the club boat builds confidence transferred to a large chartered boat with the diver being more aware of what is going on, surrounding and own risk assessment of overall conditions. However it takes practice which ad-hoc use may not fully offer. Different ways have been tried to make it easier to use with limited success even with the van now the only towing vehicle and I appreciate the time commitment mis-match of club members does not make it easier/convenient to put in place regular outings.

So unless use improves, it might unfortunately time to reappraise club ownership .
