For my blackout poem I decided to try to represent how even in todays age people still have very different experiances in america, Some still do not have the freedom that america represents. I used contrasting worfds to do this such as equal and superior. I drew two pairs on handcuffs one being broken and one not, to show that some people are still being held back and confined for who they are.

We are still awaiting for its presence, patiently, as the earth deteriorates.

Only the top one percent of intellectuals would understand. My drawing however is pretty easy to grasp. In essence, the Declaration of Independence is America telling the king that they are done with him. The King isn’t welcomed to put his troops all up in their business. The King is especially unwelcome to tax America. My picture represents all of those unwelcomes. America doesn’t want to hear about England anymore because we’re doing just fine on our own.

My blackout poem reads: Evils are sufferable; such has been necessity. Dangers from within encourage a world war against frontiers. Define settlement and peace." My image depicts the globe in its current state, specifically focusing on America and the Atlantic ocean between us and Europe. The four stars above represent founding fathers, and the crown represents the King of England. Overall, it is both a piece about climate change and the effect we are having on our planet as well as the transfer of power within our one section of the world. "Define settlement and peace" goes to ask: is there a way in which settlement can exist in America where there is environmental and social peace?

I did my poem about how all people have the right to have life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, even the babies that are not yet born. In the declaration of independence of the United States this is very clear that the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are rights that cannot be taken away from anyone. So in my blackout poem, I decided to draw a lady that is holding a poster that is stating that she is against abortion and then I have Thomas Jefferson stating that one of the reasons why we broke away from the King is the fact that he put people to death sometimes even without a fair trial. Today and in the past, we could see that these rights are being protected for all people(if they are accused of something, they can have a trial). The poem that I created goes like this," All men are endowed with certain unalienable rights. Life Liberty and Happiness. Right to design their future. Prevent destroyed lives." In this poem I am trying to say that even unborn babies have a right to make their future, you cannot take their lives away.

The significance of my blackout poem is impeachment of people under presidency that are considered destructive. My poem states, “people connected to respect mankind; that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive, abolish it for wholesome and public good.” This signifies that people should come together as a whole to decide what is best for the United States. Everyone is considered equal and everyone has an equal opportunity for life, liberty, and happiness. The illustration is an elephant ramming itself into the white house where Trump is currently staying. When the elephant rams into the white house, he strikes trump, making him fly out of the white house roof. I also made the white roof open up to the words of the poem to signify the voice of the citizens and their consideration for impeachment.

For my poem I decided to go with the theme of equal rights and that everyone was created equal. I highlighted words that I felt resembled how I feel about equal rights. I also drew a picture showing different people and different ethnicity united as one.

For my blackout poem I've decided to isolate and highlight words that revolved around the idea of forming a government to resolve the evils in the world and formulate peace. The puzzle pieced together congress was meant to symbolize a formation of government while the man in the middle holds the government and world together. I had the man holding up the world on top of a cage containing the evils in the world to show how its dictating the evil.

"Truths and principles established while despotism constrains good people are sacred." It's kind of a mouthful to say but I like to think it means that if you always put faith in what you believe is right, it will keep people together and guide you through times of hardship. The image is supposed to be a metaphor of evil's despotism attempting to constrain a man, but he breaks free by his noble ideals.
