         <description><![CDATA[<div>Global Connections in the Atlantic System</div><div><br></div><div>On april 3rd,2017, the NTNU is visited by the American researcher April J. Mayes, of Pomona College, California. She focuses her research on the Dominican Republic and teaches courses in Colonial Latin American history, Afro-Latin American history, women's and gender studies and Africana studies.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>We have used this opportunity to gather researchers at NTNU working on related themes, from the Department of Language and Literature and the Department of Historical Studies, to the seminar <em>Global Connections in the Atlantic System</em>. The participants at this seminar will explore historical connections and transfers between Africa, Europe and America; of people, wealth and ideas. In closing we will discuss how these connections are instrumental today, focusing on the relationship between memories and identities.</div><div><br></div><div>The seminar is open to all students and staff.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
