I’m glad that some of them were able to repeat after and identify the different places shown in the book like grass and river. However, they still need help in remembering the sequence of which places come first. They enjoyed the sticking of the places onto the board and using the magnet to move the characters along the places on the board.

Most children were able to look the ball in and use their “clapping hands” to secure the ball with their hands and body. Those who weren’t able to use their “clapping hands” used their “bowl hands” to hug and catch the ball.

They progressed to running and catching to make the activity more dynamic, challenging the children with better abilities.

Afterwards they paired up according to differentiated ability to practice their sideway passing and catching. This helps to get them to work together, honing their social skills in a sports setting.

The lesson ended with children playing 2 against 1 touch Rugby. Objective of the game was to score points by the offense putting the ball down in the end zone. The defense must stop them by tagging them before they reach the end zone. The children enjoyed the activities today and hoped there would be more “game time” next week.

Pre-N Discoverers
-The lesson was robot themed and I chose to introduce the topic with a short video of robots dancing. I feel this was effective as it ensured all children were able to recognise what a robot was (and suggest how it might move or sound).
-The children were invited to dance to the beat of Robot Little, and freeze when the electronic beat stopped. Most children were able to freeze during the music, but they were not able clearly demonstrate awareness of beat. In future, to extend by playing percussion instruments so I can observe it.
-Children were invited to imitate robot noises and movements with Drum Pad Machine. Ms Medalynn was invited to model to them which helped them to understand. However, when they were invited to take turns pressing on DPM they were distracted with wanting a turn vs moving to the sound of the drum. In future, to invite children to move like robots first (teacher press), and then to provide 5-10 mins for children to explore DPM in small groups.
-Children were invited to play GEC resonator bells to the melody of Robot Dance/Wheels on The Bus. Most children were able to wait for their turn as they were told explicitly what would happen (resonator bars would be passed on). Yi Terng voiced that he wanted to try multiple times but was able to wait with
encouragement! Children were not able to play GEC according to pitch without a lot of prompts (teacher pointing). To try 2 pitches only to simplify.

They are able to describe and identify what a pattern is and are working on copying/extending the identified pattern. Materials used are concrete - visual and kinaesthetic. Children who have already achieved the extending of patterns are encouraged to create their own pattern. They also help their lower ability peers by asking them what colour/shape they see so that they are able to describe the patterns.

Most of them were able to complete the task independently.

Children from the developing group needed some assistance from the teacher. Activity that needed guidance are puting the correct ounctuation to the sentences, writing their names with using the upper and lower case, and also the sight word activities.
Children from the developing group needed teacher's guidance to ensure that they stay focus in task (This group needs one to one) we can also assign a competent child with this group of children to geth them to learn from them)

Classroom management : it was alittle messy as a few children wanted to head the other group to do the preferred activity.

During Stretchers lesson today, it was a good idea to start the lesson by playing the sound of an emergency siren to grab the children's attention, though it woulld have been better if it was louder and the duration was longer! Afterwards, the children were especially interested in the doctor's kit - most of them voluntarily came to me to have their heartbeat checked by the stethoscope that i was wearing, except for Sophia and Trevor. However, after they observed their peers bravely exploring the equipment such as the syringe and blood pressure monitor, they eventually developed the courage to try! Generally the children were more engaged in the beginning but started getting distracted when i was introducing the small group activity. Perhaps the large group introduction could be simpler and i can explain the small group activity when they are in small groups instead.

Lesson: Kaleidoscope
Objectives: All children were able to pronounce the /n/ sound and most children were able to understand that the materials they were exploring with begins with the /n/ sound. This can be seen when the teacher asked them "what are the things that begins with the /n/ sound?", children are able to answer the questions by naming out the materials from the tub, or even answering without reference of the materials provided. For children who are not able to understand the beginning sound of the word, I can help them practice saying the letter sound before pronouncing the word. For example, /n/ /n/ nose.
Materials: There were enough materials provided to the children
Time allocation: 15 minutes per group

To be improved: Expose children to the letter and correct their pronunciation of the letter sounds before going into Kaleidoscope, it is also important to link the letter sounds to their surroundings (eg, name of friends, objects) to help them understand better.
