He was in the Nazi party. He got everyone to vote for him because he promised to get everyone out of the Great Depression. Once he was in power he created concentration camps. He put all Jewish people in them. These camps would make people work for 12 hours with 0 to little food. Millions of Jewish people died. 
Hitler also was one of the main reasons that WW2 became a world war. He just wanted more and more land. His approach to wars were very aggressive. Hitler did not care how many people died he just wanted land. This was the biggest and most known camp used in the Holocaust. Most people who came here normally never came out. You would either be starved, gassed, worked to death, or just shot. On the front of the building there is a sign saying "Work makes one free" This just shows how terrible these camps are because it shows how hard you have to work.  Auschwitz- Birkenau opened in May 1940 and it was liberated in January 1945. They did this by using their old language and talking to each other in it. They actually had to relearn their whole language because in reconstruction they were told not to speak their language. The US used them and their language from 1942-1945. This was significant because no axis power could break this code. Some women also helped fight in the war. Some women fighter groups had their own branch in the military. Some other jobs they had to take was factory workers, nurses, drove trucks, and much more. This killed 80,000 people instantly and over 150,000 from radiation sickness and burns. Three days later we dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. in Nagasaki 84,000 people died. The reason the US did this was because it made Japan surrender just a week after the bombings. It is estimated if the Allies had to invade Japan the US alone would lose around 500,000 soldiers, but the bombings made this not happen. Also the US was getting pay back from Pearl Harbor.
