This event is important because in 1775 The Brits went to war with the Americans. The Brits offered land and freedom to Black loyalists who help in the war, and 1000 of the black loyalists settled in Nova Scotia. This happened because the British wanted to gain control over the colonies and repay the United kingdom for its defence in the French and Indian war.

In 1917 an explosion took place which ended up damaging most of the north end of Halifax and it damaged Africville, leaving several homes damaged and it killed about 4 Africvillians . Millions of dollars was donated to rebuild the city but none of the money went into rebuilding Africville. The cause of the explosions was the collision between the tow ships that were carrying supplies to Belgium and France. The lmo was carrying relief supplies to Belgium and the Mont Blanc, carrying 2600 tons of high explosives bound for France.

In 1947 Africville was turned into an industrial land and the Africville city council approved to it. The area was rezoned for that porous. In 1962 the city approved to build an expressway to downtown that would run through Africville but they never build it. This event is important because there are things like land preservation, economic and social development, and crime reduction among others. This event happened because they wanted to attract wealthy people to go live in that area and to make life safer.

The City of Halifax decided to relocate all the people of Africville so they could build industry and infrastructure in the area. In January 1964, Halifax city council voted to authorise the relocation of Africville residents, But before they could do anything they had to gather up the Africville residents views for the sake of Halifax human rights advisory committee. Later it was reported that over 80 percent of the residents had never even contacted the Halifax human rights Advisory committee. If this hadn't happened then they would be providing proper municipal services to the community. This was an important event because they were going to relocate the people of Africville.
