         <description><![CDATA[<p>Born in Brewerytown, Philadelphia in 1953, Darryl McCray was raised by his mother and grandparents. McCray was not part of a gang, but he would write, “Cornbread,” on the walls next to the gang members. Darryl McCay was sent to juvenile detention for two years. McCray later worked with the Philadelphia's <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Anti-Graffiti_Network">Anti-Graffiti Network</a> and <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="mw-redirect" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mural_Arts_Program">Mural Arts Program</a> to help combat the spread of graffiti in the city.</p><p>If your wondering, the name Cornbread from the chef who, despite Daryl's repeated requests, refused to make the cornbread.</p>]]></description>

Since his tagging days, McCray has a close relationship with The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. he went to <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberry_Mansion,_Philadelphia">Strawberry Mansion</a> Junior High School. There, he had a crush on a girl named Cynthia Custuss. To win her attention, he wrote "Cornbread Loves Cynthia" all over North Philadelphia.</p>]]></description>
