In his speech, "Kids Need Structure" Powell says that a solid structure is essential for students and children and even if they don’t like it initially, they will learn to respect it and thrive because of it and that it’ll be the key to their success. Powell shows his bias in the stories and anecdotes he tells over the course of his speech, favoring a strict structured over a loosely structured environment, and using his credibility he earned in the military and serving as Secretary of State to persuade his audience.
