This was a big jump to learning in person and learning at my own pace. We enrolled with connections academy which provided our own monitor and tower computer, Brain Pop subscriptions, and tons of digital resources for learning. This was heaven to me. I would spend hours on Brain Pop learning from facts about Elvis Presley, why drinking alcohol is bad for you and how certain math equations work. This engaged me and gave me the loves of learning I have today. I was new and was on an accelerated curriculum than my peers. It was hard to settle in. What we all had in common, Brain Pop. I knew most of these videos word for word and picture by picture. It was a great common ground. We were provided iPads on library days for games and reading. Having those resources was a great introduction into the new and growing world of technology. This was revolutionary. I didn’t have a phone I could use all the time and not everyone had a phone. All my friends and I could chat, send pictures and talk anytime we wanted! It taught me netique and how to talk to people over email. Our assignments were half on paper and half online, which I prefer to this day. We got to bring it home, use it in class and at lunch. It was so different than what we were used to. I watched YouTube, completed assignments, watched Netflix and used email to contact my teachers.
