This is a poster about the Marshall Plan, also known as the European recovery program. The Marshall Plan, funded by the United States, provided aid to European countries to foster economic stability after the second world war. This economic stability helped fight the spread of communism as communism sprang up in places of unrest. The poster shows America holding up Europe with the caption that translates to ‘We are building a new Europe.’
https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/declassified_139339.htm

The picture above shows America President Ronald Reagan, on the right, and Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, left, signing the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, INF for short, in the White House. This treaty was in response to the renewal of tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States that were caused by the Soviets deploying ballistic missiles. The signing of this treaty intimated to the end of the Cold War.
https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/declassified_139339.htm

The ethnic cleansing in Yugoslavia was a major event in NATO’s shift from defense to peacekeeping. Once it became known to NATO that ethnic cleansing was occuring, NATO responded with airstrikes and later ground troops to stop the war crimes.
https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/declassified_139339.htm
