         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Myth: </strong>Adding medically Supervised Consumption Services creates problems that don't currently exist in the community.<br><br><strong>Fact: </strong>In Alberta, 559 people died as a result of opioid overdoses in 2016. Of these deaths, 363 were attributed to fentanyl or carfentanil, which are often laced into other drugs. Without a safer alternative, people are injecting drugs in public places. n the survey, 18.9 per cent of drug users reported borrowing or lending used needles.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The government is making supervised consumption services more accessible to the public. It can be seen as a form of a life-saving health intervention and overall create a safer environment for everyone.  There is scientific evidence that proves that these facilities help reduce the harm that can be done due to overdose. It is important to keep in mind that the facility staff do not distribute substances. This is also a way to start the rehabilitation process for people who struggle with substance addiction.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
