When I was in 2nd, I have a vivid memory of learning about the plant life cycles. We had a class plant which we would make predictions about how big it would grow. But our teacher was also teaching us how to be caregivers to plants without us students even knowing it. We learned how to care for the plants and learned a love for taking care of the plants without anyone having to tell us to do it.

I played T-Ball when I was in Pre-School, and One thing I remember is no one ever having to teach me how to swing the bat. I had some trouble with my aim, but the swing I was set on.

Someone can tell me how do to something but until I get the chance to actually do it for myself, I won't fully understand it.

I feel like I have learned more in the time that I spend in the classroom doing observation hours, than I have sitting in a classroom having someone tell me the things I need to know as a teacher.

As a student, I loathe group projects. I have always been burned by having to do most to all of the work because I am not going to let me grades suffer because of someone's laziness.

As a person, I love group projects. If I have a project to complete, I love bouncing ideas off of other people and getting feedback, as long as it is not for school or a grade.

In many things, I have seen where people turn math problems into games or score for athletics. This turns the problem into something they know and can understand, while also making it more enjoyable.

Something I find myself doing while I am helping my students at my after school job is oversimplifying. I see they are struggling and I want to help, but I know I don't need to hinder them either.

Sitting in class this week, I realized that I was fulfilling the Intentional side of Meaningful Learning. I am actively working and learning towards gaining my degree, and becoming a Teacher.

It also reminds me of when I was in middle school and I was learning to play the saxophone. I would listen to all the great saxophone players and dream of being as good as them one day. Then I would get to work on practicing so I had a chance to be as good as them.
