In the article Eat Turkey Become American by Marie Yung-Lee the authors claim is that the American tradition of eating turkey on Thanksgiving is a means to better relate to American culture as an immigrant.I believe the author wants their audience to learn or understand that the traditional celebration of  Thanksgiving is the most significant way for other cultures to identify with America while assimilating into American Civilization.
