<title>I pause on occasion (not too often) to look at how an illustration affects the mood of a section of the book. This standard is hard for students to address via photocopied pages - the colors and nuances of a picture book are important.</title>

<title>For my language impaired kiddos and those working on comprehension, we use lots of picture books to support visualizing! So many students read the words, but they don&#39;t &quot;make the movie play in their heads&quot; without intervention. Picture books really help!</title>

<title>I have been reticient in this area this year - the real focus of #classroombookaday is engagement and enjoyment, with the second runner up being working on theme identification. I should be asking the kids every day what the theme of the book was, but I have not been this year. Partly due to so many non-fiction texts, but also just out of habit.</title>

<title>We try to use a lot of authentic student talk. As I pose questions, I ask for answers with some evidence. If a student is stuck, they can ask for time or help! We encourage &quot;I agree!&quot; or &quot;I have a different idea!&quot; to encourage active listening to peers.</title>
