The facilitator explained that there are many ways we can uphold proper etiquette when seeking knowledge, especially by showing respect to our teachers and those around us so that our knowledge is blessed by Allah. Additionally, the second topic discussed was "Al-Quran is a Book of Guidance," emphasizing that the Quran is a timeless guide because Allah is all-knowing and loves those who read it. Therefore, we must always maintain proper etiquette when handling the Quran to show it the respect it deserves.

The Hadith of Jibril is one of the 40 hadiths that covers essential aspects of Islam, including Iman (faith), Ihsan (excellence in worship), and the signs of the Day of Judgment. This hadith is crucial for Muslims as a guide for living, as it strengthens the relationship between humans and Allah, as well as with fellow human beings. Additionally, it purifies the heart and brings people closer to Allah, as the pillars of Islam encompass many acts of worship that strengthen both the spiritual and physical well-being of Muslims, such as fasting and congregational prayers.

I have been exposed to the belief in the messengers, the Day of Judgment, and predestination (Qada and Qadar). To believe in the prophets, we must accept all prophets as messengers sent by Allah to all of humanity. When we obey the prophets, it is the same as obeying Allah.

Secondly, believing in the Day of Judgment means we must have faith that everything in this world will perish, and every good or bad deed will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment, demonstrating Allah's power.

Lastly, believing in Qada and Qadar means having faith that Allah knows everything that happens, has happened, or will happen. As humans, we cannot escape Allah's will, and we must accept everything that happens, whether good or bad, knowing that there is wisdom behind it.

The concept of Ihsan is one of the most important concepts in the life of a Muslim. The word حسن (goodness) is mentioned in the Quran 211 times. The characteristics of a person who is Muhsin (one who practices Ihsan) are threefold: we must do good to others, strive earnestly in all our actions, and ensure that our intentions are purely for the sake of Allah. Even prophets possessed the value of Ihsan, such as Prophet Nuh and Prophet Ibrahim.

There is also a connection between the Day of Judgment and Ihsan. When we reflect on the Day of Judgment, we strive to do good deeds to attain paradise, and at the same time, we become a person of Ihsan. Therefore, we must make efforts to become a person of Ihsan for our own benefit.

Good manners and moral character are essential for everyone. Above all, it is crucial to show respect and proper behavior toward our parents, refraining from even the smallest gestures of disrespect, like saying ‘ah’ when speaking to them or hurting their feelings. Furthermore, our conduct with neighbors holds great significance, as they are the people who live closest to us. We must always act in ways that do not inconvenience or cause them to harbor ill feelings toward us. By doing so, we can embody true faith and earn the blessings and approval of Allah.

Hikmah of ibadah

Ibadah is not just an obligation but a means of developing a strong connection with Allah. Through sincere worship, a person cultivates taqwa, either out of love for Allah mercy and beauty or from fear of His punishment. True taqwa leads to a disciplined life, protecting one from sin and wrongdoing.

Worship also nurtures social awareness, as seen in fasting, where one experiences hunger and learns to empathize with the less fortunate. It encourages generosity, reminding believers that wealth is a trust from Allah to be shared with those in need.

Furthermore, worship strengthens faith by making a person feel Allah constant presence, deepening their spiritual connection. It also purifies the soul, elevating ones status in the sight of Allah. Additionally, sincere worship results in answered prayers, bringing peace and guidance to ones life. Worship fosters unity and brotherhood, as communal prayers strengthen social ties.

It also instills honesty, as the constant remembrance of Allah prevents one from lying or acting unjustly. Moreover, true worship requires sincerity, ensuring that all acts of devotion are done purely for Allah’s sake. It teaches discipline, encouraging consistency and self-control in daily life.

Lastly, worship contributes to physical and mental well-being, as movements in prayer provide physical benefits, fasting promotes a healthy lifestyle, and Quran recitation soothes the soul. In essence, worship is a source of guidance, balance, and fulfillment in both this world and the hereafter.

Today, my usrah focused on “Virtues Found in Salah with Khushu’ :

	1.	Al-Ta’ah (Submission/Loyalty)

True submission to Allah means wholeheartedly obeying His commands. Salah (prayer) is an act of submission where we fulfill our obligation as prescribed in the Quran and Sunnah.

	2.	Al-Jihad (Struggle/Endurance)

When facing hardships in life, Salah provides relief by reminding us that every trial comes from Allah and is tailored to our strength. With this understanding, we can endure challenges with patience and trust in Allah’s wisdom.

	3.	Muhasabah (Self-Reflection)

During Salah, we reflect on our actions, recognizing our mistakes and seeking forgiveness. This process helps purify our hearts and brings us closer to Allah, especially through acts like Salat al-Tawbah (prayer of repentance).

	4.	Tawadhu’ (Humility)

Salah instills humility in us, as we submit ourselves entirely to Allah’s command. The act of sujood (prostration), where we place our forehead on the ground solely for Allah’s worship, is a profound expression of humbleness.

	5.	Iffah (Self-Restraint/Purity)

Through Salah, we develop self-discipline and avoid sinful acts, knowing that Allah is always watching. This awareness helps us remain mindful of our actions and strive for righteousness.

Fasting is a special act of worship with many benefits. One of its greatest blessings is Laylatul Qadr, a night better than a thousand months. During Ramadan, rewards for good deeds are multiplied, making it a valuable time for spiritual growth. Fasting also teaches self-control, just as Allah instructed Maryam (Mary) to practice patience through fasting while carrying Prophet Isa . This month serves as a “school of character” that trains us to be patient and disciplined. By controlling our desires, we develop ihsan (excellence in faith), which leads to three key virtues: sabr (patience), helping us avoid Allah’s prohibitions; takrim (honor), making us noble through obedience to Allah and kindness to others; and rahmah (compassion), allowing us to reflect on Allah’s immense mercy—such as the gift of the Quran, which serves as a guide for our lives.
