Help students connect outside of class

Since there are a lot of students that are taking the classes remotely, it would be helpful to facilitate connection between students external to discussion posts. This could be asking students who want to be connected to provide their contact info for distribution so it will only involve interested students, and then we can connect with one another via something other than Canvas / our UTHealth emails. As a remote learner, it'd be helpful to form connections within the city I'm in to meet peers that I can study with, talk to about courses, and even work with in the future.

More talk of career navigation from speakers

Something I would have loved to hear from the speakers is a bit more about their career paths. I would like to have heard about how they got to where they are. Were there pivotal moments or decisions they made as they kept going? Did they plan everything out, or go with the flow? How did they decide if they wanted/needed a PhD? What career navigation advice would they give to the students? It would be interesting to see that.

Would be helpful for MPH students that don't have much professional experience in the field to hear about specific opportunities to gain work experience, rather than the general suggestion of contacting professors to join their research projects (especially non-research experience for those not interested in academia/research).

The exposure to the faculty and research is invaluable. The continual encouragement to reach out to faculty (and peers) was so valuable. Truly enjoyed when I was reading an article in Theory I, & found a whole other research area for that same faculty. Now I'll pursue the topic we didn't address in seminar and will be getting closer to my areas/populations for prelims . . .

I liked that this course had a wide variety of topics discussed, and feel like it gave a good idea of where students can focus with this degree.
