This synagogue is significant because during the Holcaust and the history involving the destruction of thousands of synagogues, this one in Dabrowa Tarnowska remained intact to this day. Although some restorations needed to be done, it is interesting to see that there was a synagogue was still standing. Renovated and redecorated with elaborate designs and colors within the building, most illustrations represent a message much deeper than what is seen with the naked eye. When the Nazis came to their house because of a suspicious neighbor, they found no Jews, but still murdered the Medala family, a mother in law, and a neighbor due to a slightly suspicious amount of extra food. Similar to Lidice, a slight suspicion in a letter led to the destruction of innocent people's lives. While no English was spoken, and only one of us speak Polish, their passion still came across and I feel it was really important because it was the "last piece of the puzzle." This family was caught buying excessive amounts of food and one of their neighbors reported them to German officials. The same officials surrounded the house early one morning, and though they did not find any Jewish people, they did find evidence that there was a lot more food than what that one family would need. The whole family was shot on the spot, along with one of the grandmothers and a neighbor.

The Torah of this synagogue was originally taken when the Nazi party took control of Poland in 1939, the Torah however has since been returned to its rightful place. Students from different schools either sing or dance to honor the Jewish culture that once thrived in the region. Because of the Holocaust, the Jewish population was annihilated from the area. A neighbor reported that the family was taking more food than was usual, and in response the Nazis went to the house to investigate. The Jews escaped, however the family, including the father, mother, grandmother and two small children along with a neighbor who was visiting were all shot and burned. The harsh punishment in this tragic story shows the fear that the circumstances of the Nazi occupation created, as people put their entire families at risk through any form of opposition. It makes me wonder what motivated the people who reported the family. Did collaborations truly want to help the Nazis, or did they do so only out of fear? What prevented communities from resisting the Nazis, while others, such as the community that hid the Wolf family in Tršice, were able to do so? Not having heard an introduction as to what the monument was beforehand, it was shocking to hear the unbelievable story of these rescuers, the Medala Family, who had been assisting nearby Jews in hiding. The tragedy of this family was a reality for many rescuers, as it was never certain who could be trusted, or what behavior would be flagged as suspicious. Synagogue where it is used as a exhibition today of the left over pieces of the synagogue when it was bombed during the war. After the war, the synagogue was demolished was left untouched by the people, but not until the early 2000's that the inhabitants of the Dąbrowa Tarnowska realised that this demolished synagogue was a great part of their history. The renovations ended on 2012 where paintings from of zodiacs signs and levithian fish (Polish Fish) was drawn in the ceilings, as well as several types of motifs including, a rainbow which represents Noah's Ark and a golden gate. The significance of this image is that the town people came together to preserved their history.

Mr.barmoore said when he went to this synagogue it was blocked off. It is now a educational center. We and the polish students of Dabrowa Tarnowski entered the place. In the synagogue there was art all over the place. Each symbolizing something or relate to Jewish culture. It had several stars of David showing us that this synagogue was made after the 17th century. 
They had depictions of animals and places like the gate of Jerusalem. What it didn't have was faces because in Jewish culture they don't use illustrations of human beings. The reason the gates are not open is because the Jews believe the messiah hasn't came yet. The doors will open only until the messiah comes. This synagogue has been through many stages since it was built. From the Holocaust to Communism. Other townspeople noticed that the family was buying more food than they needed and told German officers.
