I found a contrast and contradiction in the 3rd paragraph when George yelled at Lennie about the mouse. Lennie is described as being big and strong, but he cries like a baby when George takes his mouse because of his lack of intelligence or because of his kind nature. Despite Lennie's size and strength, he is not as tough as to be expected, and i predict that this might cause problems later when they arrive at the ranch.

I found an Aha Moment in the 5th paragraph when Lennie realizes he can remember more things. This will give Lennie and George more motivation to keep going if they believe that Lennie is getting better. A life lesson in this would be to never give up and to never doubt someone of their abilities to do something. A conflict would be that Lennie will only remember things for a short time and soon forget, causing George to worry about him getting into more trouble.

I found that Lennie says again & again that he can go off in the hills and find a cave, that he can go away. Lennie keeps saying it because George yelled at him about how he is such a nuisance to him and that George would be better off without Lennie. A conflict might be that Lennie has been getting George into a lot of trouble and it is upsetting George.

George and Lennie keep talking about how they want to own a house with a farm and take care of rabbits and be alone and happy. It keeps showing up again and again because this dream they have is the only thing that motivates them to keep working and not stop until they are able to own a house. This might be foreshadowing the end of the book, where they might end up living in a house and a farm like they want.

George was conflicted on if he should tell Slim what Lennie did in Weed and kept asking him if he wouldn't tell anyone. This makes me wonder if George has bad trust issues or if he's trying to protect Lennie. George does this because he doesn't want to ruin their reputation or loose the job because they want to save money to buy a farm and house.

A conflict here is Candy did not want to put down his dog because he has raised the dog since it was a pup and he loves it.

A contrast and contradiction throughout these pages is that Lennie is a big strong guy but Curly, who is small and not as strong as Lennie, wants to fight Lennie. Lennie doesn't fight back at first and doesn't want to hurt him until George tells him to do so. This happened because Curly though Lennie was laughing at him but in reality Lennie was smiling about having rabbits in the future.

This is a warning to George and mainly Lennie that they should stay away from her.
