         <description><![CDATA[<div>MTV was launched on August 1, 1981. They first started off airing music videos hosted by people known as "video jockeys" (VJ's). Sometimes the videos were hosted by guest celebrity VJ's. MTV originally did not air videos from black people people like Michael Jackson or Rick James despite having a black VJ named J.J. Jackson, so they put up what was called a "color barrier" stating that their music did not fit with the station. Eventually after some backlash the first African-american video ; Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" aired in early 1983 on MTV.</div>]]></description>
