Teacher should be greeting students at the door. The goal is to establish a connection with the students and to set the expectations early. 
2. Give students something to do when they first come in. This can assist teachers finishing administrative tasks like taking attendance. 
3. Have a system for tardies and how students will deal with absences. 
4. There is a wide variety of house keeping duties. Theses need to take less than a few minutes unless there is an educational component. Also, can keep students in charge of their own attendance.
