Columbus Day is a day to honor Christopher Columbus, whom helped us discover America.

I think we should celebrate Columbus Day.

My reasons for that being
Columbus Day is a day to honor Christopher Columbus, whom helped us discover America.
So we should honor him because without him, we wouldn't be in America and Spanish people wouldn't be speaking spanish.

Another reason is to decrease days of school.
Without Columbus Day, School would be a day longer and there is already enough days of school.
Students need a break to relax their mind from all the school stress so thank you Columbus Day!

Now, people may not want to celebrate Columbus Day. Native Americans may not want to celebrate it due to Columbus sending  thousands of Taino "Indians" to Spain to be sold. Sadly, many passed away. Taino people whom were left behind were forced to search for gold in mines and on plantations.
It's understandable why Native Americans don't want to celebrate it.
States that are populated mostly with Native Americans ban the day.

But in all, it's just my opinion on the day. Your opinion may be different and that's okay! This was my reason to keep Columbus day, and I hope it stays. :D

First reason why I say that is because the of the plain and obvious fact that Columbus murdered, I repeat M-U-R-D-E-R-E-D the native american tribes and enslaved them too! Why should we celebrate this brutality? If someone now were to do do the now we would consider this person a villain, why should it be any different for Columbus now that we know what he did? Even if it was in the past we should ban it now!
Second reason why we should ban it is because he didn't even discover America! In fact a viking was the first to, actually the native america tribes were the first! I could go on, and on, and on about who was here first, but that is not the point, the point is that he wasn't the first.
Third reason is because he can be blamed for the trail of tears! He is the reason that the native america tribes were either killed off or enslaved or chased away. This brutality was caused be the interest sparked by Columbus's travels. To be fair to my opposing side anyone would do that by traveling over here, so he shouldn't be of blame. That may be true but that still isn't a cause to celebrate him.
