Malala had grown up practicing the religion of islam. Her father was a teacher in schools for women that were later shut down when the Taliban took control of their country. The Taliban believed that women did not deserve an education, so they tried to eliminate it for females all together. Malala began to advocate against the Taliban by standing up for women's rights in education. She continued to receive an education in a school that had yet to be shut down. However, in 2012 a member of the Taliban boarded her bus on the way home from school and struck Malala in the face with a bullet, causing her to be in critical condition. This then caught the eye of people across the world, and provoked Malala to further fight for the right to education for women.

The website includes various stories about women across the world that have been impacted by Malala’s work and advocacy. The pages section includes stories about mothers in other countries that have been inspired by Malala and have fought for their daughters rights to education so that they dont go through the same suffering that their mothers did.
