There are about 350 bird species living near the ocean. Lots of them are being threatened with extinction, pollution, overfishing and predators. About 4,000 species of birds cross the ocean and land each year. They migrate to other places to follow food, weather or another habitat.

Fish have gills to breathe underwater. They don't have to go to the surface to breathe.Some fish sting their predators. Some fish have camouflage. Fish also have their fins to help them swim.
Paydeocypres are the smallest fish. They are 6 to 10 mm. The small size of these fish helps them survive in terrible conditions such as strong water. Gold fish is a rare kind of fish.Pink fish live in the  reef. Bluefish jump. Orange are sparkly. There's  more red, silver and rainbow fish in the world. Some fish eat meat. The black swallower can eat fish twice its size. Some fish have teeth. They can bite. A shark is a fish. A cod's enemy is a human. The world's oceans have about 20,000 species of fish.----

There are 2 species of lobster-warm water lobster and cold water lobster.The rarest lobster is 1 in 100 million.The name is the Albino, White Crystal. George the lobster was 140 years old. They usually live for 100 years. A lobster has a  chemical in their  body to prevent their DNA from being damaged when cells reproduce .Baby lobsters do not look like adult lobster. Baby lobsters have big eyes and adult lobster have little eyes. Lobster have eyes, antennas, stomach, artery, muscle, swimmerets, legs, green glands, a pincher claw and  a crusher claw. When lobsters eat  they put their claws  in the mouth. People  Hurting Ocean.                     
 ln 2010, there was a crab using a plastic bottle  for a shell.  2.4 billion people don't have fresh water. Animals are choking and dying on plastic. Oil can spread hundreds of square miles. Fish are being hurt by nets, trash and sometimes hooks. Fisherman should not overfish because it may make some of the fish extinct.  Hundreds of  people catch and eat fish for protein.

Sign up for World Ocean Day where you have to wear plastic gloves and bring a trash bag to help pick up trash at the beach. From  our research , this is what we found....
Gav-- What are some types of boats that catch fish?
Answer ---  Some types of boats are called the Gillnetter boat, and the Crab boat.
Cal--How many pounds of fish does the Portland Fish Exchange get each day? 
Answer---They catch between 10 and 20 million pounds of fish a year. IThey keep it in the 19,000 square foot room refrigerated room at the fish exchange.
Mic-- What are the types of nets used to catch fish?
Gill net, Pound net, Fyke net, Answer---The nets are called the catfish net, Beckman series nets, pen net,  and the Brodin Gallatin Ghost series nets.
Mic-- Which fish makes the most money?
Answer---The highest price is $61.95 for fresh Maine Lobster.  The second highest price is fresh scallops.
Gav--Why don't they have  live auctions anymore?
