Include short answers to these three prompts:
1: 1-2 sentences of free thought - feelings, thoughts, impressions, concerns
2: What waste did you see the most of?
3: Where and how do you predict that waste breaks down?

1. Generally easy to set aside waste in a separate place. I felt more conscious of what I was throwing away more frequently because of it... I would think "Hm. More saran wrap" whereas before I wouldn't always consider that... I honestly felt as though I didn't throw away as much as 7 lbs per day, which is a relief, but then again, that is just an average, and still I think in the future I would like to see very little to almost no extra waste if not food waste.
2. I saw a lot of saran wrap, and food waste out of everything. Things to preserve food, and the food scraps themselves, like banana peels and apple cores.
3. I think that if I throw all of the waste I accrued over the past couple of days in the general waste disposal it would end up in the landfill near here, mixed in with a lot of other waste. Whether it was food waste or not, it would most likely take longer to break down, given that it is mixed with a lot of other things... or at least that is my guess. The food waste would mold and break down into harmful ghgs as well. With the plastic: that would most likely just crumple up and slowly rip and tear into micro plastic that seeps into the Earth. Of what is recyclable, I presume that it would go to the recycling center, but I am unsure of what happens next. Transportation to move that recycling would cause extra emissions, if the recycling isnt in demand, then maybe some of it will be lost...

Throughout the waste audit, I tried my best to dispose of things as I normally do so that I could get the best prediction for my yearly waste. However, I believe I tended to be less wasteful subconsciously throughout the audit. At the end of the audit, I was quite surprised by how much waste I had accumulated as I didn't feel like I had thrown a lot away.

One thing I saw a lot of was paper towels, which, because of the chemicals are unable to be recycled. I will try to use a reusable hand towel in the future to limit my waste.

I am conscious that much of the non-recyclable waste goes into landfill and takes years to decompose.

The waste audit was a really good experience! It was interesting having to think about everything I throw away. Most of the trash that I had came from the kitchen and the heaviest parts were the food scraps. This made me really want to start composting because I would be able to significantly reduce my ways.
I predict that this waste will go into the dump then into the landfill. The food scraps that I threw away will break down anaerobically and produce methane. If I were to compost this waste instead it would be able to break down aerobically and not produce greenhouse gasses.

The waste audit really opened my eyes to how much waste I am actually using. The main sources of my waste came from compost and single-use plastic. Before, I would carelessly throw things away, but having done this, I now am realizing just how much I waste in a few days. I predict that the waste will mostly just sit in a landfill. I am hopeful that the compost which I put in the yard debris bin will be used in a more sustainable way. But, maybe instead of putting my compost in the yard debris bin, I should create my own compost.

I found that I was more conscious of what I was wasting, which made me feel better about my contribution (or lack there of) to landfills.
1. I feel like I wasted the most paper and paper towels of anything, because with almost every meal, I'm using a napkin or paper towel.
2. I think most of the waste (aside from the compost) will go in a landfill near my house, or the closest one to where I live, but most of my waste was recycling, so it will probably breakdown in a short amount of time.

Since I was out of town for the weekend, it was interesting to see how much more waste I produce when I am not at home. 2. The waste that I saw the most of was flimsy plastic such as a snack bag, or a granola bar wrapper. 3. This flimsy plastic waste does not break down, however there is a way to collect some types of it such as plastic grocery bags or plastic produce bags and take it to a collection center.

Most of it was recyclable, especially because I think Annie's mac n cheese is somewhat conscious. But some of it wasn't. And some plastic (recyclable and nonrecyclable) was consumed by me too. Cardboard boxes can be reused, and cardboard breaks down easier than plastic. The plastic part is rough though.
