Date: 3/14/18
16 minutes
pages 57-65
Response:
While I was reading the book Book Scavenger by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman I found an again and again. The again and again I found is that the book "The Golden Bug". This book keeps coming up in the book. "The Golden Bug" was the book that Mr.Griswold was carrying when he was mugged. Then it came up again when the men that mugged Mr.Griswold were looking for the book. Finally the book came up again when Emily found it by the trash can and thought it was a book scavenger book. I think the author keeps bringing this up again is because there is something important in it. I think the book has something important in it because in the beginning of the book they made it sound like that book had a lot to do with Mr.Griswold's work.

Meet the 11-year- old Science Whiz Who Invented Water Testing Device

Date: 3/15/18
The article " Meet the 11-year-old Science Whiz Who Invented Water Testing Device" was about a girl named Gitanjali Rao who created a portable water testing device. Gitanjali created this device in a contest of young scientist. Gitanjali was inspired to create her invention because of Michigan's lead in the water. Gitanjali wants to go to Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study diseases and genetics.
The signpost I chose was quoted words. The author quoted Gitanjali saying, "I wanted to do something to change this not only for my parents, but for the residents of Flint and places like Flint around the world.". I think that the author quoted Gitanjali because he wanted to show how determined she was to build her invention and she really wanted to build it to help everyone. Gitanjali wants to keep making new inventions to solve more problems. I think the author quoted her specifically on this because it really showed that she cared about the people in her community and didn't want them to get hurt.

Date: 3/13/18
11 minutes
pages 51-56
Response:
I'm reading the book Book Scavenger and I chose a picture of the BART train station in San Francisco. I chose a picture of the BART train station because in the book a lot happened there. The first big thing that happened in the train station was Mr.Griswold was mugged and shot. Also recently Emily just found the book that was Mr. Griswolds. Emily thought that it was book scavenger book but she was wrong. There was nothing on the book that made it a hidden book. Emily was very confused why the book was just sitting there. Emily put her card in the book in case it was a hidden book then put it back where she found it. Matthew (Emily's brother) was putting a sticker on something in the train station and was caught by two men. The men started chasing all three kids. Emily, James, and Matthew started to run away from the men. I think that the men are security guards or the men that mugged Mr.Griswold. If they are the men that mugged Mr.Griswold I think they thought Emily took the book and wanted to get it from her so that's why they chased them.

Date: 3/17/18
8 minutes
pages 65-69
Response:
While I was reading Book Scavenger it made me wonder and think several different things. Something that came up in the book is what would happen if Mr.Griswold would die. Then I was thinking what would Emily do? Emily can do this anywhere and it's perfect for her since she moves all the time. This is something Emily has done for a while and it would be really sad if she couldn't do it anymore. Also what would everyone else do if book scavenger wasn't a thing anymore? Who would take over book scavenger if Mr.Griswold dies? I think that if Mr.Griswold dies Emily is going to take over somehow because she has the book. I don't think that my prediction is that great but it's just a random thought. I'm excited to read on though to see what happens and if Mr.Griswold will make it.
