My family has decorated the house and put our Christmas tree up. I have learned about the Advent season and how it is a time to prepare for Jesus' birth. I also learned about St. Ambrose and how he affected the church. I am practicing my faith in it as I continue to pray for the arrival of baby Jesus, especially more than usual in this different year. In class, I have learned that Advent is simply about patiently waiting, and not yet celebrating until Christmas arrives. Since covid started my family has mostly been watching Mass online from a really nice Church in Chicago, which we did yesterday too. We also put up a manger scene in my front yard which we do every year. I have learned about how we should be celebrating and appreciating Advent more. I am practicing my faith in the Advent season so far by taking time out to sit silently (as silent as possible is the better phrasing) and listening to hear God's direction as we prepare for Christmas. I am learning more and more about the traditions practiced around the world among families and communities to celebrate advent. The images of just people extending that helping hand is very hopeful. I will admit that it is kind of disheartening that people only really care around Christmas time.
