Will Jordan be a net exporter of energy?
A global urgent need to develop alternative forms of energy is increasing
daily. As the demand is expected to increase 44% over the next two
decades, reaching about 197 million barrels of oil per day. Since Jordan
depends on other countries for energy supplies; it must look for national
resources such as renewable energy and oil shale. Jordanian oil shale is
considered to be of very high quality. It is a domestic resource that will provide the kingdom with a long term supply of cheap, reliable and abundant energy that gives the best solution for the country’s needs for energy. Oil shale is found in 26 different locations around the country: west-central region, Attarat Um Ghudran, Yarmouk deposit and in the Ma’an district in southern Jordan.
1. I will look up the meaning of the words in bold from the dictionary.
 2. I will prepare a dialogue with a friend about the future of energy supply in Jordan.
)The dialogue will answer the following questions: Why should we look for alternative forms of energy? What is the domestic energy resource that Jordan has? Will Jordan be an oil producer? How is oil extracted?(
